Knology Enterprise Solutions works with schools and libraries to provide advanced communications services for administrators, teachers, and students through the existing FCC E-rate program. The E-rate program, which supplies funding for such services, is administered by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC).
The E-rate program was created as part of the Federal Telecommunication Act of 1996 to ensure that all eligible schools and libraries have affordable access to modern telecommunications and information services. E-rate funds help to pay for telecommunications, Internet, and infrastructure (ex: WAN development) expenses, assisting schools and libraries that may be experiencing budget shortfalls or a loss of resources. E-rate funding is available for both Knology Telecommunications Services and Internet Access services. Once Form 470 is filed, Knology is restricted to the role of Bidder, and can no longer present directly to a school or library purchasing authority.
